From The Pastor's Heart June 4th, 2023
It's pretty clear that my focus in the series, " The Glory of God" has been on Jesus. The Bible and my personal experience tell me that a church which centers on and seeks to glorify God in Christ is a healthy one. There is no question that, at some point we will have to talk about and settle our differences. We must unite in love for Jesus and our conviction of the trustworthiness of scripture.
When we see and appreciate all that Christ is and does, we will see disagreements fade. "Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in his wonderful face, and the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His Glory and Grace." In other words, let's keep the main thing, the main thing. In getting along with others we learn the value of give and take, compromise, understanding, respect, and listening. The only thing that is not up for discussion is the gospel of Jesus Christ.
As we pray (DAILY) for our pastor search team, pray they will find a man who is Christ centered and Bible believing in all his interactions, decisions, and preaching. And let us strive to put our attention on these things now, so that your next pastor can start his ministry with a body that is united in its devotion to what is really important.
As it has always been, it's my joy to be your pastor. If I did not love God and you all so much, I could just preach old sermons, see my pastoral role only as a duty, coast through the motions, pick up my paycheck, and plan my retirement. But I can't do that. "The love of Christ controls" me. (II Cor. 5:14). God bless you.
Yours in the love of Christ, Harry
