August is always a little calmer within the life of the church. Our church calendar this month reflects that, and we do not have the many activities filling the weeks that we normally have throughout the church year. However, September will be here before we know it and that means we are already thinking about how Ruffin Stacey might serve the community in the coming year. We hope that you will join us in praying about how God might use you this year.
It seems to me that every year that passes, there are more and more activities that take up time during our week. As my own children are getting older, we now have their increasing list of activities that are added to our own. When these schedules collide, some things have to be put to the side in order to make room for the new activities. This is only natural, and it happens to every family.
I would like you to consider as you are filling your calendars for the new year, and that is to schedule in time for service in God’s Kingdom. I don’t mean personal Bible study or church attendance. Those are things we should do, and are commanded to do, for worship, sanctification, training, and edification. What I mean by scheduling service for God is, plan some time to invest in service to someone other than yourself, or some ministry. Something outside of Sunday morning that you can say, “this was totally for the Lord.”
It is a blessing to serve with you,
-Pastor Lance-
