There is excitement at my house already over the Christmas Season. It is one of our favorite times of the year, and this is true for the adults and children in my family. We are all busier than ever and even a little more stressed, but that doesn’t change the fact that there is a strong sense of happiness that surrounds our house.
For people of faith, we know that this happiness is not just about the presents, the good food, the time with family, or the songs that we know and love. We know that this feeling of happiness comes from the joy that we have in Jesus Christ. I have said before that the most important event in human history was the combined crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ. However, the most celebrated event in human history is the birth of Jesus Christ. Why that is I’m not entirely sure, but I think that it has to do with the fact that the event is full of nothing but hope. There was no sadness in the manger the same way there was at the crucifixion. There was no anxiety in the manger the same way there was when the disciples found the empty tomb on Easter morning. There was only joy at the birth of this new baby, the hope of the world.
I would encourage all of us to continue in this season of hope as long as we can. Amidst all the stress and business, let your faith keep hope alive. Merry Christmas friends!
It is a blessing to serve with you,
-Pastor Lance-
