From the Pastors Heart, December 3rd, 2023
Merry Christmas! Too Soon? It will come faster than you think. Children feel like it’s forever while adults scurry around desperately trying to get it all done in time. December is the busiest time of the year for church folk…especially pastors. But I love it! Please take note of all churchwide and Sunday School events. I especially want to encourage you to attend on the 17th when our choir does its cantata in the am and the children do their play in the pm. Please plan to come on the 20th to our special candlelight service.
No matter what your circumstances are this season, I encourage you to take time to reflect on the miracle of Christmas. God becoming a baby always gives me a sense of awe and thankfulness. The story of Mary and Joseph making the trek to Bethlehem, only to be sent to a smelly stable, the shepherds, the angels, and wise men always adds beautiful color to the Event of events. Knowing that this gift from God grows larger and larger as Jesus grows up, begins his ministry, and dies on a cross makes His birthday almost too good to be true! BUT IT IS TRUE! In fact, this little baby, now glorified and imbedded in all believers (through the Holy Spirit), is Himself THE TRUTH!
Joy and I have loved being a part of Ruffin Stacey. We are grateful for however long The Lord allows us to be here. We love you and we wish you a Christ-led Christmas and a Spirit-led New Year.
Love in Christ,
Harry
