January 1st, 2023
I don’t know about you, but I cannot believe that it is 2023 already. Last year was full of significant events in my personal life, professional life, and spiritual life, but it also seems like a blur. It went so fast. I’m not someone who makes New Year’s Resolutions, but there are goals that we try and set as a family each year. Some of those were met and some of those were not. But in our successes and our failures we always try to express our thankfulness to God for His provision and goodness in our lives.
The beginning of a New Year is full of hopeful anticipation and unknown anxiety. I think that this has been even more true over the past several years. Life has always had its difficulties and challenges, but I feel like over the past several years we have experienced unknown difficulties that have crept up on us in ways that we could not expect. The bad news is that I expect this to continue into the foreseeable future. The good news is that none of these difficulties surprise God in the way that they surprise us.
Psalm 139 says, “Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.” The Lord has a plan and a purpose for you in the coming year. Prepare as you should, but do not feel anxious about what might come. Be hopeful about God’s goodness.
It is a blessing to serve with you,
Pastor Lance
