I have not said much over the past two weeks about the fighting that is taking place in Eastern Europe. This is partly because I am not an expert on war or geopolitics, and I do not want to mislead anyone in any way. It is also due to the fact that I try to choose my words carefully when speaking on events that have such wide reaching and extreme consequences. I want to make sure that I, as well as we corporately as a church, am speaking and reacting to world events in a way that would be worthy of the cross of Christ. I pray that we all take this care in every event of our lives.
It is clear that much prayer is needed for our world. The pages of Scripture are filled with wars, conflicts, violence, and sinful greed on the part of humanity. In all instances, God encourages His people to pray. Pray for themselves that they would have daily provisions. Pray for their loved ones and friends that may be going through difficult times. Pray for Kings, authorities, and world leaders who are put in place to make the difficult decisions that have to be made in times such as these. We may feel helpless when thinking about what difference we could possibly make in such a large-scale event. But what is large-scale for us is simply a matter of thought for God. So, I encourage you, pray for the people of Ukraine, that God may be glorified in their safety.
It is a blessing to serve with you,
Pastor Lance
