“God is good.”
This is a phrase that is common among Christians and has been a source of encouragement for the church for centuries. We hear it and are reminded of passages like Romans 8:28, “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”
When we think about God’s goodness, we often think about it in terms of how we are currently being blessed. This is usually in a financial or physical way (our health). But the truth of the Gospel is that God’s goodness goes beyond anything that we can measure in the physical world. Yes, God cares for us financially. Yes, God cares for us physically and emotionally. These are good things to be celebrated. But God has also cared for us spiritually in a way that we overlook. Jesus dying on the cross secured our salvation. This is true no matter what is going on around us. Whether we are sick in the hospital, whether we are struggling to pay bills, even if everything is going well but we find ourselves depressed. The goodness of God is not dependent on what is happening in our lives. Our salvation is always secured, not by our actions, but by the actions of God Himself. This is why we can declare; “God is good! All the time!” Remember that friends and be hopeful.
It is a blessing to serve with you,
