In an eye-opening report more than 50,000 people over the last 10 years were asked why they came to church, and between 75 and 90 percent of respondents said, " I began attending because someone invited me."

In an earlier study, people came to church through the following forms of contact:

* 2% by Advertisement

* 6% by the Pastoral Invitation

* 6% by Organized Evangelism Campaign

* 86% by Friends and Relatives

In another study, 37% of Christian's linked their conversion to being invited to church.

What these reports tell us is that there's one specific reason that visitors come to church:     The Friendship Factor.

On October 6th we are having Friend Day here a RSBC. During the month of September I am preaching a sermon entitled, Failure Is Not An Option.  We will be studying together how in the area of evangelism we cannot and must not fail.  Everyone will be encouraged to bring one friend to church with them on October 6th. This promises to be a historic day at RSBC.

Let us all commit to praying for Friend Day!!!!!

1. Pray for the friend you are going to invite.

2. Pray for opportunities to arise to invite them to church.

3. Pray for courage to invite them.

4. Pray that they would accept the invitation.

5. Pray that they would follow through and come.

6. Pray that they would sense the love of God and the love of our church family.

7. Pray that the message and worship would be awe-inspiring.

8. Pray that they would hear the message and grow one step closer to God.

Nothing of eternal importance happens apart from prayer...
